Happy Memorial Day, everyone. While for a lot of people, today is a day off from work or school, for so many others today is a painful reminder of loss. Loss of a friend, a brother, a parent, a spouse. A brave man or woman that gave literally everything they had to serve our great nation. There is no one, I repeat, NO ONE, braver than an American Soldier. Today, as we're enjoying the holiday, please take the time to remember our Veterans, both those who are with us and those who are gone. Because of them, we are able to enjoy the things we love today. If you know one personally, thank them. If you can no longer thank them in person, thank them in prayer and honor them today.
Yesterday, during our Memorial Day service at church, our speaker read a quote that really stuck with me, and I'd like to share it with you all.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
I am so incredibly grateful that there are still people that think that we, as a nation, are worth fighting for. I can never seem to properly put into words the gratitude I have for the amazing men and women who have sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice, so that we can be free. I am so blessed to know some of these heroes myself, and they are heavy on my mind today. From the bottom of my heart, to the Veterans and active service members, THANK YOU.
